乔治华盛顿的简介GeorgeWashington(February22,1732–December14,1799)servedasthefirstPresidentoftheUnitedStatesofAmerica(1789–1797),andledtheContinentalArmytovictoryovertheKingdomofGreatBritainintheAmericanRevolutionaryWar(1775–1783).TheContinentalCongressappointedWashingtoncommander-in-chiefoftheAmericanrevolutionaryforcesin1775.Thefollowingyear,heforcedtheBritishoutofBoston,lostNewYorkCity,andcrossedtheDelawareRiverinNewJersey,defeatingthesurprisedenemyunitslaterthatyear.Asaresultofhisstrategy,RevolutionaryforcescapturedthetwomainBritishcombatarmiesatSaratogaandYorktown.NegotiatingwithCongress,thecolonialstates,andFrenchallies,heheldtogetheratenuousarmyandafragilenationamidthethreatsofdisintegrationandfailure.
